About Lemon & Lace

Hey y’all and welcome to Lemon and Lace Applique!
I’m so thankful you're here! I'm Lindsey, the owner of Lemon and Lace,
a custom embroidery boutique specializing in children’s clothing and linens.
I am originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi but grew up in Birmingham, Alabama.
I attended college at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) where I majored in Elementary Education and met my wonderful husband, Brooks! Brooks and I met through mutual friends our freshman year and have been together ever since (almost 16 years!).
We got married in 2013 in Birmingham and shortly after our wedding Brooks’ job took us to Tampa, FL where we lived for almost 6 years! While we were in Tampa, Brooks traveled A LOT for work. So in my spare time I decided to go back to school to get my masters degree in School Counseling! I was so blessed to be able to accept my first counseling job
at the school where I was teaching kindergarten at the time.
After completing my masters degree I was back where I started with a lot of
extra time on my hands, especially in the summer months when school was out.
(Oh what I would give for some extra time now!).
The following summer I decided I wanted to learn to monogram!
My sweet sister, Casey, helped me research and find my first machine! A single needle Janome. It was the perfect starter machine! Once I learned how to use it, I was hooked!!
I monogrammed anything and everything I could! Mostly doing things for friends, family and co-workers. With some encouragement from Brooks and my sister I decided to officially open a business! I wasn’t sure where it would go but I had BIG dreams!!
I dreamed about this little business long before it became a reality. In fact,
I had a post it note on my computer at school that said "Don't quit your daydream".
Not only did I read that quote everyday but prayed over it every day too!!
Over the next two years Lemon and Lace grew and grew! To the point where I would spend just about every waking moment outside of my full time job as a School Counselor, working on orders!
Shortly after starting my 4th year as a School Counselor we found out that Brooks’ job would be taking us back to sweet home Alabama! Once we found this out, we decided that I would hang up my educator hat after 10 years and focus on Lemon and Lace full time. Although this had always been my dream, it was bittersweet leaving a career I loved and a school that was my home away from home. But God knew exactly what he was doing!
Just 9 days after moving home, we found out that I was pregnant with our little girl,
Mary Margaret! God’s timing is always perfect! I can't forget to mention our fur baby, Ace, an 11 year old yellow lab, who also happens to be the L(ace) of Lemon and Lace!
He was our first baby and has been with us through it all!
I started monogramming with big dreams and THANKS TO YOU it has become a reality.

is appreciated more than you know!
